My Inspiration

My love of reading started as a young child, when I used to sit in my mom’s lap and she would read to me for hours and hours on end.  One of my favorite childhood memories was our weekly trip to the bookstore, where I would selectively pick out one book a week.  (That one book quickly escalated to two, and three, and four.)

I was a shy kid, and reading was my great escape. Although I loved classic authors like Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary, I developed a pretty voracious appetite for reading, so I LOVED mass-market paperback series. I immersed myself in the lives of babysitters, detectives, boarding school students, and the residents of Sweet Valley, California. Some of my favorite books from childhood are:

I’m proud to say that my daughter Cassidy is developing a love of books at a young age, too. She inspires me to be a better reader, and a better writer, every day.
